Nigerian-British Actress Starred Alongside Ariana Grande in the Biggest Musical Movie of 2024

Cynthia Erivo plays the iconic role of Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the beloved musical Wicked. The film is being released in two parts, with the first part hitting theaters in November 2024. Erivo's portrayal of Elphaba has been widely praised for her powerful vocals and captivating performance.

Cynthia Erivo was born in Stockwell, London, to Nigerian parents.Her parents emigrated from Nigeria to the UK in the 1970s. She gained recognition for starring in the Broadway revival of The Color Purplefrom 2015 to 2017. Erivo has appeared in several films and television shows since she was a child. The films she has starred in includes Harriet, Widows, The Outsider, and Genius: Aretha Franklin. In 2021 Cynthia released a  studio album, "Ch. 1 Vs. 1” showcasing her musical talent.

In addition to Wicked, Cynthia Erivo has several exciting projects in the pipeline. Erivo will star in an upcoming film adaption of the award-winning legal drama, “Prima Facie”, which addresses sexual assault.
