So, pack your swimsuit, lace up your hiking boots, and get ready to be dazzled by the cascading wonders of Ghana!

Wli (Agumatsa)

Wli (or Agumatsa as the locals call it) is the highest waterfall in West Africa at 80 metres. It is 4 hours away from Accra in the Volta region. There are 2 waterfalls at Wli – the upper falls and the lower falls. It's nestled within the lush Agumatsa Wildlife Sanctuary, offering visitors a breathtaking sight amidst tropical forest surroundings. You can also take a dip in the pool. Wli waterfall is nice tourist attraction and they have well trained tour guides to take good care of you and protect your items

Kintampo Waterfalls

Found in the Brong-Ahafo Region, Kintampo Waterfalls is a mesmerizing natural wonder formed by the Pumpum River. The waterfall descends in three main streams, creating a stunning curtain of water surrounded by lush vegetation. This tiered waterfall is a popular spot for swimming and picnicking. There's a canopy walkway that offers breathtaking views of the falls and the surrounding rainforest. Visitors can swim in the pool at the base of the falls and explore the surrounding forest.

Boti Falls

Situated in the Eastern Region, Boti Falls is a picturesque twin waterfall. These twin falls, which come from two rivers, are referred to as female and male; according to local myth, a rainbow is formed when they merge. It consists of the upper falls, which cascade down a rocky cliff, and the lower falls, which flow into a refreshing pool below. Boti Falls is particularly stunning during the rainy season when the water volume increases.

Asenema Falls

Just 2 hours away from Accra in Akuapem Hills is the stunning Asenema Falls. An unmissable location on any trip to Ghana. Compared to some of the other waterfalls that require hikes or are located in remote areas, Asenema Falls is easily accessible. The falls are just a short walk from the main road, making it a perfect choice for a quick getaway or a day trip from Accra. The lush rainforest setting and the cascading waters create a picture-perfect scene. It's a great place to relax, take in the sights and sounds of nature, and capture some stunning photos. There's a pool at the base of the falls where you can take a refreshing dip. Just be sure to exercise caution and avoid swimming near the edge of the falls

Oté Falls

This is also in the Volta region and it has 2 activities rolled into one – a waterfall and a canopy walkway. Although visiting it can be quite an adventure, it is not very accessible. Oté has a canopy walkway which you can get to after a descent down 259 steps. After the canopy walk, you have to walk down a very dodgy path, holding on to a rope railing to get to the waterfall itself

Tagbo Falls

Tagbo Falls is another waterfall in the Volta region in Liati Wote near Mt. Afadjato, one of the most popular and frequently hiked mountains in Ghana. Tagbo Falls is a hidden gem nestled within a scenic landscape. The waterfall plunges into a serene pool, providing a refreshing spot for swimming and relaxation. The surrounding area is also ideal for hiking and birdwatching.

The falls stand at 60m high Unlike Wli, the path to Tagbo Falls is quite hilly so it’s more of a hike than a walk so be prepared. The hike takes you through a scenic cocoa forest, and the reward at the end is a refreshing swim in the pool at the base of the fall. Just be sure to exercise caution and avoid swimming near the edge of the falls.

Tsenku Falls

Tsenku Falls, also sometimes called Dodowa Falls or Wuruduwurudu Falls, is a seasonal waterfall located in Ghana's Greater Accra Region . It resides within the Dodowa Forest, near the Shai Hills Wildlife Reserve, offering a peaceful escape nature lovers and those seeking a break from city life. Tsenku Falls cascades down a height of about 250 feet over stratified rocks, creating a visually stunning scene. The surrounding area showcases exposed rocks within the valley, including a beautiful rock wall with a small cave underneath. This rock formation vividly displays the geological forces that shaped the landscape over time. The surrounding forest is named after the Tsenku god, and a shrine dedicated to this deity can be found in the nearby town of Obosomase. Including Tsenku Falls on your trip allows you to experience a part of Ghanaian culture and history.

Remember, while Ghana's waterfalls are awe-inspiring year-round, their true majesty unfolds during the rainy season, typically between April and October. To witness these cascading giants at their fullest, consider planning your trip during this time.  Whether you seek a heart-pounding hike to a hidden oasis or a refreshing dip beneath a gentle flow, Ghana's waterfalls have something for everyone. So, pack your raincoat alongside your swimsuit, and get ready to experience the power and beauty of nature at its finest.
